Acephate

Short Description:

Mode of Action of Acephate:

  • Contact & stomach action, and also has systemic properties
  • Acephate works by inhibiting acetylcholinesterase (AChE) in the insect nervous system, causing accumulation of acetylcholine leading to hyperexcitation, paralysis, and death
  • IRAC Group 1B – Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitors (organophosphates)

Key Properties / USPs:

  • Systemic action – readily absorbed by plant roots and foliage to provide control of feeding insects
  • Quick knockdown with ovicidal action on target pests
  • Long-lasting residual activity – persists for about 10-21 days at recommended use rates
  • Broad-spectrum activities – Aphids, Jassids, Thrips, Whitefly, Mealybugs, Bollworms, Stem borers, Leaf folders, Diamondback moth, Grasshoppers, Cutworms, Mites and Weevils
  • Water solubility: 818,000 mg/L – highly soluble and mobile in the environment
  • Suitable for IPM programs as a rotation partner with different mode of action groups
